Yoga Builds: Movement and Mindfulness in the Classroom

The incorporation of Yoga Builds into the classroom emphasizes students’ self-awareness, focus and concentration, body awareness and relaxation – all of which will support a more peaceful and calm environment particularly during transition times. These workshops provide teachers and therapists with a tool-box for working with difficult behaviors and learning challenges in their classrooms and have the added benefit of empowering adults to truly create change, both for themselves and the youth in their care. This workshop is best taught in a half-day or full-day format. Participants should dress to move comfortably.

  • Multi-Modal Learning Theory, Sensory Integration and the physiology of Stress
  • Breathing and Mindfulness techniques
  • Short-sequencing for behavior management and transitions
  • Standing postures and chair postures for easy implementation in classrooms
  • Social-Emotional Learning Activitie

Yoga Builds additionally offers a semester or year long mentoring yoga program to train educators, social workers and therapists how to easily and effectively integrate yoga and mindfulness work into their daily schedules with students. Program includes in-depth training opportunities, one-to-one mentoring and demonstration work directly in the classroom or in therapeutic settings.
